Clandestine Drug Laboratories Awareness Package
The Office of the Fire Commissioner, in collaboration with the Calgary Fire Department, developed the Clandestine Drug Operations Awareness and Safety manual to enable first responders to recognize and respond to clandestine drug operations (methamphetamine labs and marijuana grow-ops). The manual has information on detecting these labs, the dangers involved (explosions, fire, exposure to toxic chemicals), safety equipment, and decontamination procedures.
The French version of the manual was produced in collaboration with the Québec Ministère de la Sécurité publique.

Code of Practice for Firefighters
In 2007, a Code of Practice for Firefighters was jointly written by several Alberta government ministries and the Office of the Fire Commissioner to describe the minimum standards to which a fire service must comply with Alberta health and safety legislation. Although this document is referenced to an older version of the Occupational Health and Safety Code (2006), it contains valuable information for preventing injury and fatality incidents in Alberta's fire service community. The OFC is working towards updating this document to the current Occupational Health and Safety Code, which can be found at Alberta Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour.
