Training Workshops

As various organizations plan for and conduct training courses, there may be opportunities for others to participate.  In addition to professional development, participation in these courses also provides networking opportunities. The Office of the Fire Commissioner will list training events where outside participation is permitted.

If you are hosting a training program and want it listed here, please provide:

  • name of the training course
  • date, time, and location
  • registration contact and deadline
  • information on certifications that may be relevant
  • any prerequisites
  • cost

Email your information to firecomm@gov.ab.ca, and we will post it until the training date deadline.

The play safe! be safe! workshop held in Calgary on February 28, 2013, was an enormous success. Not only was it free, but participating fire and life-safety educators, trainers, teachers, other direct care providers, and program managers got a multi-media kit to take back to their audiences (children aged 3-5 years). We were very lucky to get the presenter, Dr. Cole from New York, to come to Calgary–he's usually booked up two years in advance.
